The Story Behind the Wood

The Fender Suona Collection is inspired by “Il Bosco Che Suona”, The Musical Woods of the Fiemme Valley in the Italian Alps. These were the same woods from which the spruce tops for the legendary Stradivari instruments were sourced. Today, this forest is still flourishing, and it is from here that the spruce for the Suona Collection has been harvested.

The Suona Telecaster, Suona Stratocaster and Suona Jazz Bass stand as masterpieces, combining detailed craftsmanship with an elegant aesthetic. Their semi-hollow ash bodies are crowned by bound spruce tops, yielding a tonal quality that is both resonant and articulate. Their lavish gloss nitrocellulose finishes and matching painted burst headstocks add a touch of sophistication, ensuring that these guitars look as impressive as they sound.

The Suona Collection is a limited run of Fender instruments built with spruce tops harvested from the same forest in the Fiemme Valley in the Italian Alps that provided the spruce for the renowned Stradivari violins. How do Suona Collection guitars feel to play?

All the models in the Suona series have a gorgeous roasted flame maple neck with a modern “C” neck profile. This popular neck profile is comfortable and versatile, making it ideal for many playing styles.

The Suona Collection’s ebony fretboards are topped with narrow-tall frets. This type of fret is excellent for bending notes and playing chords with exceptional intonation and accuracy. The fingerboard also features a compound radius of 7.25”- 9.5”, which gradually flattens as you ascend the fretboard. This gives you comfy chording at the lower end and easy bends at the dusty end.
