Vintage VJ74BLK Bass, Gloss Black

With its defined sound and incredible playability, the Vintage VJ74 ReIssued bass has gained a reputation as a solid and dependable workhorse with a wide ranging versatility.

Inspired by classic designs, the VJ74's Alder body feels tight and comfortable, and provides excellent resonance and tone, which when coupled with the Hard Maple bolt on neck and its 20 Medium profile frets, combines to create an instantly playable instrument.

Pickups are two Wilkinson WOJ single coil pickups providing ultimate clarity and articulation, which can easily be manipulated by way of the two Volume and one tone controls. A Wilkinson three saddle compensated brass bridge provides improved intonation all over the fretboard, while a 38mm white graphite nut and Wilkinson WJBL200 machine heads ensure smooth, and stable tuning.

    What Vintage say:

Solid alder is the perfect choice for the body, not only to support the solid construction, but for this popular tonewood’s ability to distribute an equally fine balance of high, mid and low frequencies, delivered uncoloured to a pair of Wilkinson WOJB single coil pickups which enhance this tight, piano-like tone, with extended clarity and articulation.

Pair alder with the VJ74’s bolt-on, hard maple neck and you know you just can’t go wrong for rocky-blues bass, or, just wind the tone control back a tad and enter a whole new world of jazzy, mellow soothing bass lines.

Smooth open-geared Wilkinson machine heads and a friction-free white graphite precision cut nut, ensure tuning stability, while the innovative Wilkinson three-saddle, compensated brass bridge, increases sustain and improves string intonation.

The sonic versatility of this classic bass design has proven itself over the years as the perfect bass for practically any style of music and, with its characteristic narrow neck design and medium weight tonewood construction, playing a 2 hour gig is just not a problem.
