Fender Custom Shop '69 Stratocaster Closet Classic Olympic White
Fender Custom Shop '69 Stratocaster Closet Classic overview by GAK:
Well we would hazard a guess that anybody picking up a Strat in the summer of '69 would have been over the moon with this one! Featuring a two-piece Alder body with a subtly aged 'Closet Classic' finish this beauty also has an upgraded Quartersawn Maple neck with a round-lam Maple fingerboard. Most players find the flatter than vintage 9.5" radius and tall & narrow 6105 frets a lot easier to play than an original and the 1969 'U' profile is just right measuring .850" at the 1st fret thickening to .910" at the 12th. There's short post 'F' stamped Schaller tuners on the big headstock.
Electronics wise we have a trio of Handwound Josefina Campos Fat '60s with a reverse wound/reverse polarity middle pickup. These fantastic pickups have a higher than vintage output and great balanced tone between the 5 positions. The Custom Shop Vintage Modified #1 wiring sees the neck & middle pickups use the middle tone control and the bridge pickup gets a tone control for itself. Ships in a black tolex Custom Shop case with red poodle interior.
A Fender Custom Shop instrument is as good as it gets. You know it when you play one—it’s filled with intangible, electrifying elements that adds a new dimension to your playing experience. It’s as if the instrument itself is imbued with history, and is as close as it gets to an original build Fender from the Golden Era.
The Custom Shop builders are completely dedicated to their art, they’re the best at what they do, and they pour all of their passion, hard-earned knowledge and skill into every instrument they build. It’s no ordinary place, and the creations that come from it are no ordinary instruments. Whether they're Teambuilt or Masterbuilt.
