Ibanez RG8 Standard, 8 String, Black
The Ibanez RG8 builds on the back of Ibanez's legacy of making awesome extended-range guitars. The RG8 is one of the best-value 8-string guitars available.
It wasn't long ago that finding an 8-string guitar under £1000 was impossible, but these days they're much more practically priced. This trend of affordable extended-range instruments for rock and metal players is something Ibanez pioneered way back with the RG7620 (conceived as the affordable sibling to the Steve Vai designed Universe). Since then they're been forging ahead, expanding the range, and continuing to offer progressive 7 and 8-string players exactly what they want.
Pick-Ups for the Low-End
Own-brand pick-ups can be something of a guitar turn-off these days, and especially so with the further expectation that the extra strings put on them. But the IBZ-8 passive ceramic pickups give you nothing to worry about in this case. These are designed specifically to handle the low F rumble. Plus with Ibanez's history with extended range instruments, and their history of producing pick-ups that stand on their own, as their own entities (like the Infinity and PowerSound series', and in this case, the IBZs), you know they'll deliver.
This five piece Maple and Walnut neck is based around Ibanez's long-loved Wizard shape and is fast, flat, and thin. To deal with the extra string tension - without bulking things outs - the neck also features titanium rod reinforcement - for ultimate playability and added tech kudos.
Gibraltar Standard 8
The Gibraltar Standard 8 Bridge offers gives you smooth playing comfort and maximum string vibration transfer into the body to help with this full 8-string guitar rumble. The RG8 also features through-body stringing push a bit further and maximise the guitar's sustain.
