Which famous guitarists play Martin acoustics?
Founded in 2002, Faith Guitars is the culmination of a shared passion among a small team of seasoned guitar experts based in Shropshire, England. Led by the world-renowned British luthier, Patrick James Eggle, the brand is committed to crafting instruments that are as visually stunning as they are sonically impressive.
Patrick’s approach to building guitars can be described as obsessive, having been driven by a lifelong fascination with guitars since his childhood. He built his first instrument at the age of 15, and has been refining his craft ever since. Much like a sculptor or material artist, Patrick begins each project with a clear vision of the end result. By carefully selecting the appropriate tonewoods, bracing patterns, and touch-point materials, he meticulously shapes these raw components into playable and desirable instruments.
The ultimate goal for Patrick and Faith Guitars is to create instruments that are both highly functional and highly desirable. These exquisite pieces not only look stunning when silent but also deliver exceptional sonic performance in the hands of skilled musicians. With this unwavering dedication to quality and craftsmanship, Faith Guitars continues to impress and inspire players around the world.
A History of Martin & Co.
The story of Martin & Co. began in 1833 when Christian Frederick Martin, a skilled luthier, founded the company in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Over its long history, Martin & Co. has been responsible for numerous innovations that have shaped the acoustic guitar industry.
One such innovation was the invention of the X-bracing in the mid-19th century, a technique that strengthened guitar bodies and produced a richer tone, which is still widely used today. Martin’s experiments with design and craftsmanship led to the creation of the American flat-top acoustic guitar as we know it today.
Decades later, Frank Henry Martin introduced the Dreadnought, arguably the most important and influential guitar body ever built. The Dreadnought quickly became a standard for acoustic guitar design and Martin’s ingenuity didn’t stop there. C. F. Martin IV continued the tradition of innovation with groundbreaking models like the X Series and the revolutionary SC-13E.
Throughout the years, Martin & Co. guitars have been played by numerous legendary musicians, from Jimmie Rodgers and Gene Autry to Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan and John Lennon. Their instruments have also been a part of defining moments in music history, such as Woodstock and MTV Unplugged.
Martin & Co.'s dedication to craftsmanship, quality and innovation has been passed down through six generations of the Martin family. As a result, the company remains family-owned and operated, ensuring that the values that have made Martin guitars so exceptional are preserved for future generations of musicians.
When you purchase a Martin guitar, you become a part of this storied history, joining the ranks of musicians who have created the soundtrack of our lives with these exceptional instruments.
