Line 6 Helix Floor Guitar Processor Pedal
Overview by GAK
The Helix Floor is one of the best multi-effects units around and can meet the requirements of the most demanding guitarists. Whether you’re on a stage, in a studio or just practising in your bedroom - the Helix Floor will excel at anything you throw at it.
Powered by dual-DSP processing and utilising Line 6’s innovative HX modelling technology, the Helix Floor is capable of delivering the authentic nuance and analogue character of the classic hardware that it’s emulating. The amplifier models boast a stunning dynamic response, the pedals have had their individual components painstakingly replicated for unbelievable accuracy (the “Transtronic” process) and the cabinets have a high-resolution and beautiful low-end detail. You can choose from sixteen mics to place at twenty-three different positions as well as import your own impulse responses for further tweakability of your tone.
The sheer amount of under-the-hood power also allows for four stereo signal paths per preset, up to eight snapshots per preset (instantly recall an alternate version of a patch) and up to thirty-two simultaneous effects (depending on how DSP-intensive the effects are). With this capability, you’re able to construct an insane guitar-rig with multiple routings that would cost ten times more than the Helix Floor.
Take Control Of Helix
Thanks to the Helix Floor’s intuitively designed user-interface, creating the rig of your dreams is fun and effortless. With Pedal Edit mode, you can keep your both of your hands on the guitar whilst adjusting parameters on-the-fly with the built-in expression pedal. With the capacitive-touch footswitches, all you have to do is touch it when you want to instantly adjust parameters. You can assign any item to any switch in about three seconds! Handy customisable scribble strips let you know how each of the twelve footswitches is allocated at a glance and the coloured LED rings indicate what effect type is in use.
Supercharge Your Setup
With an impressive array of I/O options available - including MIDI, XLR, USB and S/PDIF - the Helix Floor can be the nerve centre of your live and studio arsenal.
If you’re looking to integrate the Helix Floor into an existing setup, the four send and four return ports can be assigned as four mono/two stereo effects sends (so you can easily connect your individual pedals) or flexible inputs and outputs that can be freely assigned. For example, you can feed a virtual version of your rig into the PA and separately send the Helix effects into your onstage amp - giving you the best of both worlds!
Built Like A Tank
All this unbelievable tech is housed within a robust aluminium chassis and the footswitches are tour-grade so they’ll be able to withstand your stomping for years to come.
The free Helix software editor is available if you want the ability to edit your presets, rename the footswitch labels, develop complex signal paths and much more on your computer.
Join The Legends
With world-class players such as Steve Howe (Yes, Asia), Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Billy Sheehan (Mr Big, Steve Vai) and Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders) having used the Helix Floor as part of their touring rig, you’ll be in fantastic company as a Helix Floor user.
Check out the Helix LT if you want a more affordable solution and don’t need all the extra features of the Floor, the HX Effects if you’re mainly interested in the faithful pedal recreations and the HX Stomp if you’re after something more portable.
Overview by Line 6
The Line 6 Helix Guitar Processor is the FLAGSHIP processor in the Helix series, the Helix is an absolute powerhouse of a processor, with Dual-DSP HX Modeling, 62 Amps, 37 Cabs, 16 Microphones and 104 effects to experiment with. The result is unparalleled flexibility and control for creating the perfect tone.
Firstly, the Helix is extremely intuitive and user-friendly thanks to its layout and smart onboard navigation system. The Helix has a combination of touch-sensitive footswitches, customisable backlit scribble strips, coloured LED rings and a massive 6.2-inch, 800x480-pixel LCD screen. Navigation, assignment and signal path customisation on the Helix is therefore made easy, fast and supremely satisfying.
With the Helix, you get a truly authentic tone, Dual-DSPs help power the processor to accurately replicate the full dynamic responses of both classic and modern amplifiers and effects. Through fine attention to detail from Line 6, the Helix accurately emulates amplifiers circuitry right the way down to the influence of individual tube sag, power supply ripple and even control over B+ voltages. The result is an unmistakably Analog sound seldom obtainable from processors in the same price range. Every amp model, cabinet, effect and pedal sound and feel truly authentic.
The effects modelling on the Helix also has an unprecedented level of accuracy and authenticity thanks to HX Modelling. Through a
The Helix boasts four stereo signal paths per preset, giving you the flexibility to create detailed routing scenarios using multiple effects and blocks routed in any number of ways. Furthermore, the Helix has a large number of rear-facing inputs for integrating pedals, effects and other external hardware and instruments, essentially turning your Helix into a live performance workstation overseeing your entire live setup. When connecting individual pedals or pedal chains to the Helix's four mono, or two stereo effects sends and receives, you have the ability to create switchable loops or process multiple instruments simultaneously.
The Helix can integrate MIDI devices and interact with them through real-time MIDI control. With the Helix, you can operate and interact with multiple MIDI sources right from the foot pedals and switches, from triggering drum machines to switching up sounds on a synthesizer. Whilst on stage the Helix also allows you to edit elements of your setup 'hands-free' using three expression pedal inputs and the 12 onboard footswitches, perfect for a guitarist or keys player who integrates numerous elements into their setup.
Finally, the included Helix Edit Software is built from the same user interface found on the Helix floor and rack processors, via your computer you can drag and drop elements to build and customise your signal chains whilst also adjusting settings and parameters. If you happen to be on the move away from your equipment and come up with an idea on the spot for a new sound, the editing software allows you to capture that inspiration and then transfer it to the processor when you next practise and perform. The Helix has also seen a recent firmware update in the form of 2.21. This sees the Helix kitted with a collection of new models and features such as 'Variax Control'.

Brilliant, everything in one place!
This thing is a tank of a unit, if they weaponised it you could successfully invade north Korea, but they haven't, so you can't. What you can do is plug an instrument in, run it through an amp and annoy the hell out of the neighbour who plays his guitar at 9am every morning, because if he can't play Nickelback at least 17 times a day he will faint! I won't even start on his uncut grass encroaching on my garden! Anyway back to the Helix. . . Its superb, expensive but won't make you a better musician. It will however make your instrument sound fantastical. It does loads of other stuff too but I haven't gotten that far into the instructions yet.
Needs some time to get the best out of it
WOW, What can I say ! An amazing piece of kit . Looked quite intimidating at first switch on but very intuitive, fairly easy to get up to speed with it. After a couple of days I'm creating presets and downloading others . Well done to the designers !! A fantastic way of having so many options available with just one unit . Very happy with my purchase
