Overview by GAK

The HX Effects from Line 6 features the same 200+ world-class stompbox models as its siblings, the Helix Floor and the Helix Rack in addition to legacy boxes from Line 6’s M-Series and Stompbox Modeler series. It’s a highly effective solution if you’re looking to replace your masses of bulky pedals with something that can do it all or supercharge your board with an FX toolbox. If you’re looking to get into the Helix range and prefer the response of an amplifier, the HX Effects is the one for you!

Stompbox Sound + MultiFX Choice

The HX Effects gives you the best of both worlds - the versatility and choice of a multi-fx with the incredible quality of individual pedals. You can run up to nine pedals simultaneously, that’s a lot of effecting! Every single component of the real deal has been painstakingly replicated, giving you the feel and, most importantly, the sound of the pedal that’s being emulated. Pristine audio and low-noise are guaranteed thanks to 123dB of dynamic range.

The natural tone of your guitar and amp is preserved when the HX Effects isn’t in use, thanks to a switchable analogue bypass.

Improved Pedalboard Functionality

Visual feedback is provided by the customisable “scribble strips”, which tell you exactly what effect is assigned to what footswitch. Assigning and editing effects is a breeze with the touch-sensitive footswitches. Touching a footswitch with your finger instantly jumps to that effect, touch two switches together to swap the effects over and touch/hold a switch to display all the parameters across the board.

Use Anywhere, With Any Instrument

The HX Effects packs an unbelievable amount of power into a compact form factor that can easily fit onto your board/on top of a synth/on your desk etc.

The switchable line-level input gives you the ability to use the HX Effects as an external processor for your synths, keyboards, mixers in the studio and live.

A flexible I/O configuration gives you the ability to seamlessly integrate the HX Effects into your rig and enhance its control capabilities, featuring two expression inputs, parallel stereo signal paths, two assignable (stereo linkable) effects loops and up to four amp switching outs.

MIDI inputs and outputs, as well as MIDI over USB, means your HX Effects can effortlessly communicate with your MIDI-enabled pedals and DAW of choice. When hooked up to your computer via USB, you can use the free Helix Editor software to quickly and easily edit your patches.

Check out Helix Floor, Rack and LT if you’re looking to incorporate highly-realistic amp sims and the HX Stomp if you’re looking for the Helix sound in a stompbox.

Overview from Line 6

HX Audio Engine - Run up to nine HX effects simultaneously. Featuring the same HX audio engine as Helix processors, HX Effects leverages powerful DSP to run up to nine effects simultaneously. HX Modeling delivers effects with unprecedented authenticity and accurately recreates the behaviour of vintage effects by emulating their specific circuits and components.

HX Effects - More than 100 HX effects—plus IR support. HX Effects features more than 100 of the same effects featured in our Helix guitar processors, including distortions, delays, reverbs, modulations, pitch/synth/filters, compressors/limiters, EQs, wahs, and an on-board looper. HX Effects also lets you load custom impulse responses (IRs), allowing you to customize your sound even further.

Industry-leading dynamic range - Pristine sound quality and responsiveness. HX Effects features an industry-leading 123dB of dynamic range for tremendous depth and ultra-low noise. Each effect is delivered with pristine sound quality to ensure an authentic and responsive playing experience.

True bypass switching - Nothing comes between you and your tone. HX Effects features selectable analog bypass switching to ensure your tone isn’t compromised when the pedal is bypassed.

Capacitive touch foot switches - Quickly select and edit effects. Eight capacitive-sensing footswitches with color-coded LED rings, and six LED scribble scrips enable intuitive effect selection and editing. Simply touch a footswitch with your finger to instantly jump to any effect and quickly adjust its parameters. Touch two switches to swap them. And touch and hold a switch to display all parameters across the LCDs to see everything at once.

Robust routing and I/O - Seamless integration with your rig. HX Effects is easily integrated into existing pedalboard and studio rigs thanks to robust routing and control options, including parallel stereo signal paths, two assignable effects loops (stereo linkable), two expression pedal inputs, and up to four amp switching outputs.

Switchable instrument/line inputs - Connect any instrument, and more. A switchable line-level input enables keyboardists, DJs, and producers to connect electronic instruments or use HX Effects as an outboard processor in the studio.

Master controller - A command center for your entire rig. Like Helix multi-effects processors, HX Effects can act as the command center for your entire rig. Communicate with other pedals or your DAW software via MIDI DIN or USB MIDI, and control your amps from up to four amp switching outputs—all from HX Effects.

Well built and great functionality. For people who like to turn a knob and get results, this will be more challenging. I use this, Iridium and active speakers.

Excellent service and delivery. Outstanding effects unit. Easy to use with everything needed to support the most complex configurations

  • Patrick Dehm

Very versatile and easy to use. I found the overdrive and distortion don’t quite cut it live as well as my analogue pedals can.

Easy to use and sounds great, fits in my gig bag, replaces my pedalboards

Pedal is incredible hence the 5 star review but GAK are truly awful... horrible company go to Andertons instead Brought a ‘brand new’ line 6 helix at £399.99 it works amazingly however this came to me second hand... pedal board tape on the bottom.. marks of use and the box had be opened. As you can imagine I was a bit upset that I paid full price for what was clearly a second hand item. Contacted GAK and they didn’t seem to care at all. The first person I spoke to on the phone made it seem that I was wrong and it was a demo version... ok even if that is so I don’t expect to pay full price for a demo’s item... unless stated in the advert which it was not. From the website i was made to believe I was buying a brand new Helix Effects unit at full £399 retail price. Usually I shop with Andertons as they are a great company and very helpful and only around the corner... however the weren’t getting any Helix effects in for about a month so I went with GAK... wish I had been patient and just waited to get from Andertons. I also took the liberty of speaking to someone who works at Andertons and told them the full story and they agreed with it me it and suggested I should have saved £100 or so depending on condition. As I said it works perfectly well and the effects are actually really good of modelling digital effects but my experience with GAK was terrible and I was expecting a brand new item. I feel I should be compensated in some way... even if it’s in store credit or something... that would show that GAK aren’t a terrible company but like I said i’ve not heard from them and whenever i called I was pawned off to different departments and nothing has happened. I’m left with a great sounding and working second hand product that I paid full whack for. If your happy with that and aren’t as picky as me... great GAK are the company for you. If you want honest pricings and amazing customer services go to Andertons... actually just go to Andertons anyway
