Moog Sound Studio Trio Overview

The Moog Sound Studio Trio is a fun and inspiring way to enter the world of modular synthesis. This complete analogue synthesis includes all the key elements you need to start patching, tweaking and exploring - plug in your favourite pair of headphones or speaker and you’re away!

All In One

Moog’s Sound Studio Trio comes with, as you can guess from the name, a trio of acclaimed semi-modular synthesizers, a bunch of handy accessories and some educational that can help inspire your sonic explorations. Whilst one of the most appealing elements of modular synthesizers is their customizability and flexibility, putting together a setup and deciding which modules to buy can be a huge hassle. Especially if you’re a newcomer to this mysterious and exciting world! That’s where the Moog Sound Studio Trio comes in, as it provides you with an all-in-one solution that’s easy to set up and contains all the necessary ingredients.

Eurorack Ready

Don’t be fooled by the ease of setup, the trio semi-modular synths that come with this Moog Sound Studio deliver tonnes of sonic power and versatility. Each module is a fantastic synth in its own right and brings something unique to the table. When combined, which the Moog Sound Studio Trio is primed to do, the results are truly marvellous. All the Moog synths that are included with the Sound Studio Trio are also Eurorack-compatible, allowing you to seamlessly integrate them into a Eurorack module setup. If the Moog Sound Studio Trio is your first foray into modular synths, it also works well as the core of a setup that can be easily expanded with additional modules down the line.

Semi-Modular Studio

The first Moog module is the monophonic Mother-32, which packs plenty of raw power and excels at classic analogue sounds such as warm basses and juicy leads. The M-32 features a powerful step sequencer that can store created sequences for later recall. Next up is the Subharmonicon - arguably the wildcard in the bunch. There are few synths like the polyrhythmic Subharmonicon, which is capable of generating otherworldy patterns with its incredible sequencer and encompassing six-note drones. Finally, we have the DFAM, an analog percussion synthesizer that has bags of punchy and organic character. The DFAM’s intuitive and immediate onboard sequencer is on hand to inspire unique rhythmic patterns.

Patch Away

What’s appealing about the Moog Sound Studio Trio is that all the modules are semi-modular, meaning you can create amazing sound without using a single patch cable. When you want to get deeper into the sonic potential of the Sound Studio, you can use the included patch cables to explore each synth’s patch bay. A lot of fun can be had when you start patching the synths with themselves and with each other.

Rack And Cover

The Sound Studio Trio comes with a three-tier rack kit, which puts the synthesizers and summing mixer in a stack. This gives you a convenient, tidy and organised modular system that makes the most of your studio space and optimises interconnectivity between the synths. When it's time to switch off the Sound Studio, you can protect it with the rugged and water-repellant cover, which features an ultra-soft interior. This Ballistic Cordura-made cover safeguards your modules from spills, dust and any other mishaps that might occur.

Convenient Summing Mixer

The four-input analog summing mixer gives you the option to choose between mono or stereo configurations and conveniently powers the entire Sound Studio from a single power supply.

Optimised Cables

Moog provides all the cables you need, including instrument cables and patch cables. The length and colour of the cables have been specially chosen to fit the look and patchability of the Sound Studio. A cable organiser mounts to the three-tier rack or the wall and keeps your cables neat.

Inspirational Tools

Like with the other Moog Sound Studio collections, the Trio comes with original studio art, games and educational materials that can help inspire and guide you. These materials have been developed alongside leading artists who have an in-depth knowledge of these Moog synths and are meant to work as jumping-off points for your patching sessions. The Circuitous Connections card game is a fresh addition that puts you on the path of discovering new sounds via randomly generated pathways. This card game is a proper “happy accident generator”!

The way the Moog Sound Studio presents analogue synthesis in an immediate and inviting way makes it a great choice for seasoned synthesists, complete newbies and everyone in between.
